A Paintsmiths Commentary
With 30 years in paint behind our names, you can trust the gurus at Paintsmiths when they tell you to not be afraid of the dark! Learn why a darker toned bedroom often poses as the best idea for a soothing night’s sleep.
Paintsmiths have chatted to several experienced professionals in interior, architecture and design and it seems that the opinion is unanimous that dark is in fact a great colour to consider for a bedroom, daunting as it may be, it promises to open up a brand new personality in the space.
“It makes art and other objects against the walls stand out– a darker hue creates an ideal backdrop for your art” says an in-house colour expert at Paintsmiths.
Although it might seem counter-intuitive, painting an already dark bedroom a dark paint colour will expand the room and make it look larger, versus smaller. In addition, a dark bedroom, painted a dark colour, feels more enveloping and glamorous.
Ryan Olivier from ARRCC conversed with the team at Paintsmiths; “It can really transform a space. From being used as a tool to draw attention to a feature item to being the feature in a space. Dark finishes can be used to intensify the feeling of intimacy and warmth in an interior.”
For instance, when we use Earthcote Pandomo in the colour Black Cat it elevates the concept and creates a whole new dynamic in a given space.
